Jewelry Rules for Women and Men

Sunday, August 22nd, 2010

The choice of fashion accessories like jewelry is a very personal affair. It should be comfortable and at the same time should complement with what you wear. Jewelry requires thorough consideration and good taste.

Jewelry Rules for Woman

Balance your jewelry items. Dont over do it. If you are wearing a heavy gorgeous necklace, then go for modest earrings and vice versa. Dont wear one massive and bold ring at a time. The combination of 2 or 3 discreet rings is ok. If you want to wear a bracelets, then do not wear a necklace. Jewelry sets are traditional gifts, comprising matching necklace, ear-rings, a bracelet and a ring. Do not wear them all at once. A necklace is goes well with a ring, and ear-rings are a perfect match for a bracelet.

Decide to wear something that compliments your face shape and hair style. If you have a small face with fine features or short-cut hair, then do not wear massive earrings. With tied up hair, long drop or dangly earrings goes well.

Choose stones and metals that can work best for you and as per your age. The good options for a young girl are some strings of pearls, corals set in silver or gold. Mature ladies are free to wear all possible precious stones. Silver jewelry is considered to be an every-day thing. So its better not to go for it for formal and special occasions. You can combine silver and gold jewelry. But think properly over the combination. For example, silver and gold chains can brighten a dark dress up. But do not combine a silver necklace with a gold bracelet.

Jewelry Rules for Men

All men jewelry should be simple in design. They should be of excellent quality. For men, old accessories never go out of fashion. An ancient signet or a pen with a big diamond are status symbols.

A signet looks better on a long-fingered man’s hand than on a short-fingered and plump one. Always wear a signet on the left hand so that there is no chance of hurting anyone while shaking hands. A signet on a middle finger or fore finger looks melodramatic and stagy. Try using watches and cigar-cases made of silver, steel or platinum, enamel or even gold. The wrist-watches match an evening suit unless they have a leather wristlet. A simple tie can be decorated with a moonstone or amethyst pin or other light stone. The pearly collar-studs are a must for a shirt in a cut-away suit. The cuffs are linked with gold cuff-links-chains which can be decorated with precious stones.
